Developing A (Teacher Academy)

The Heart of Missouri RPDC’s Teacher Academy, a replication of the successful Leadership Academy, is a fundamental program providing professional growth for school leaders. Teacher Academy’s focus is centered on student engagement, instructional strategies, and reflection on practices that align with the Missouri State Teacher Standards. Teacher Academy is designed to provide participants with an intellectually stimulating opportunity to learn new teaching strategies and collaborate with other highly committed teachers in their region and throughout the state.

Participation requires monthly release days for regional meetings, one statewide kickoff session with John Antonetti, a Winter Meeting with John Antonetti and one graduation session. Tuition is free, transportation, food and substitutes will be the responsibility of the school or individual.

Teacher Academy Graduates

Teacher Academy Graduates (TAG) is for the teacher who is a graduate of Teachers Academy and is wanting to further enhance their “teacher toolbox” with high leverage instructional strategies stemming from Mike Rutherford’s The Artisan Teacher. TAG participants will select two “passions” out of the 27 options from the book that they will incorporate into the classroom during the 2018-19 school year. Participants will reflect on the successes and near successes of the strategies as it pertains to student achievement, documenting what went well, and what they would do differently. The graduate cohort will continue to build upon their network of teachers throughout the area through intentional collaboration.

Participation requires four release days for regional meetings and one statewide kickoff neeting in July. Mike Rutherford will be the trainer for the statewide kickoff. Tuition, travel expenses (including hotel stay at statewide meetings), and substitutes will be the responsibility of the school or individual.

Meetings, except for statewide meetings, take place in Conley Road, Hyvee.
