Missouri Migrant Education Program

Helping families and school districts

Mitigate the Effects of Frequent Moves

Missouri’s Migrant Education Program (MEP) is housed at the Heart of MO RPDC and provides supplemental resources to Missouri districts for mitigating the effects of frequent student moves due to families’ work in agriculture. MEP supports districts with direct resource allocation, targeted student support, family engagement, and recruitment services to meet the mandate to identify all eligible students. These resources depend on the number of eligible MEP students present and served by Missouri schools.

Students qualify for MEP by moving from one school district to another, sometime in the last three years, to allow caregivers to obtain temporary or seasonal agricultural employment including meat and poultry processing. Missouri MEP certifies eligible students as directed by districts that use the Parent Agricultural Survey at the point of enrollment.
